I regularly hear from students and faculty that these pages have been of help in to doctoral students and others who are engaging in research. I am told that the descriptions are very clear and concise. Often they are used in areas of the world where standard textbooks are unavailable or excessively expensive. Statistical data about the web page reveal that about 10,000 different people visit this site--representing approximately 150 countries--every month. The majority of visitors to this site are from outside the United States. I have even received reports that my dissertation has been used in qualitative research classes as an exemplar of qualitative research. I am deeply grateful that my work is being used in this manner. Indeed, when I wrote the dissertation I was encouraged to make it "a teaching document," and I am glad I followed that advice. While I realize the seminar notes need to be revised--they originated as lecture notes for classes I taught in the late 1990s--that must wait either for my retirement or a position in academia that will allow sufficient time for that activity. I would like to teach qualitative research and work with doctoral students, as I have in the past. My vita is located under "Don" in the left column.
